While theRay Donovanalum had seldom spoken about her former husband and their coparenting arrangement, she accused Emmett of emotional and verbal abuse in October 2022.Usconfirmed at the time that Childers had filed a restraining order in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging in her petition that she found “threatening” messages between Emmett and his lawyer.

Childers also claimed that she emailed her former spouse earlier that month after London’s school notified her that their daughter had been consistently late while under his care.The filmmaker allegedly replied by sharing copies of his correspondence with his attorney. “When will you get some real money together so we can take this c–t out once and for all. She also alleged that the Florida native “would put his hand around my neck and tell me that I could never get away from him” and even placed a tracking device under her car while they were still married. However, her motion was denied by a judge who argued insufficient evidence.

Emmett and the Vice actress tied the knot in 2009, nearly six years before calling it quits.

Emmett and Childers became parents in 2010 when their daughter London was born.

Us confirmed in July 2013 that the actress was pregnant with baby No. 2. Rylee was born in November.

Emmett filed for legal separation from his then-wife in April 2015 before dismissing his motion one year later.

Childers filed for divorce in January 2017, and it was finalized nearly one year later.

Amid quarantine for the coronavirus pandemic, Emmett told Us that he and Childers have 50/50 custody of London and Rylee.

Following the former couple’s divorce, Emmett was required to keep a bank account open for Childers to use to cover their daughters’ expenses. In October 2021, he filed to lower his custody payment after claiming that he would be in debt if he continued making such deposits. Childers responded at the time, noting that Emmett had been “completely silent” regarding what the child support agreement should be. Their case was settled three months later.

While Kent and Childers didn’t always have a smooth relationship, their bond strengthened after the reality TV star called off her engagement to Emmett. “They’re friends. They’re supportive of each other and have each other’s backs,” a source told Us.

Childers filed a restraining order against Emmett on October 24, 2022, claiming she feared for her life after finding “threatening” messages he allegedly sent to his lawyer. The actress went on to claim that she suffered verbal and emotional abuse during the pair’s marriage, but her request for a temporary emergency order was denied.

In court documents obtained by Us, Emmett claimed that Childers and Kent "were working together in [an] attempt to destroy my reputation to give them both an advantage for custody." In the declaration, the Florida native alleged that his ex-wife's abuse claims were "fabricated."

“Ambyr states she cannot remember specific incidents of abuse. She cannot remember specific incidents, because there are none," he claimed. "Ambyr’s claims now stem from her friendship with my former fiancée, Lauren Burningham, the mother of my youngest daughter, Ocean … Lauren and I are in the middle of a very contentious custody litigation, in which Lauren has made false allegations of abuse, though she has never filed a DVRO Request against me, because she knows she is not a victim of abuse.

Childers' team declined to comment on the allegations.

Childers was granted a temporary restraining order against Emmett in December 2022, the Los Angeles Times reported one month later. In her petition, the actress claimed that an FBI agent contacted her in regard to her ex-husband's “suspected activities with child exploitation and pedophilia," the outlet noted. (Emmett vehemently denied the allegations, calling them "disgusting and untrue" in a statement to the Times.) Per the court order, the producer must stay 100 yards away from the actress and is not allowed to contact her unless it is a "brief and peaceful interaction" about the visitation of their daughters.

One month after Childers’ temporary restraining order was granted, Emmett spoke out against his exes’ child endangerment claims. “The things that have been said about me — everything under the sun, you know ‘narcissist, cheater’ — but at the end of the day, I took the high road because I have three beautiful girls that I didn’t want to be out there,” he said in an Instagram video.

He went on to state that the reason he has custody of his kids is because he is “a good father” and “a good person,” adding, “At the end of the day, that is what is the most important thing. At the end of my life, no matter what happens, I’m going to look my three daughters in the face [and] they’re going to know their dad was a great father.”

Emmett also slammed the concept of cancel culture in the video, stating that “in this culture, you can just say whatever you want and then it gets written about and then that’s considered ‘truth.’”
