FINAL: De Pere 5, Sun Prairie 1

De Pere wins the first state championship in program history and becomes the second Green Bay metro team (Bay Port) to win a D1 title.

Top 7: De Pere 5, Sun Prairie 1

Axel Donaldson gives De Pere another run. He singles, steals second, takes third on a sac bunt and scores on a wild pitch.

Bottom 6: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 1

De Pere is three outs away from its first state championship.

Raygo allows a walk with one out but gets out of the inning with a double play.

Top 6: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 1

Redbirds get runners on first and second with one out but don't score. Two innings to go.

Camp at 54 pitches.

Bottom 5: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 1

For the second time tonight, Raygo retires the side in order. This time, he only needed seven pitches to do it.

Top 5: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 1

Axel Donaldson hits a single with one out but gets caught stealing on a really nice throw by the catcher.

Mason Sequin has a single with two outs and steals second. Easton Arendt is intentionally walked, but Cardinals get out of inning without allowing a run.

Bottom 4: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 1

The Cardinals get something going on offense with two outs and nobody on. They follow with a walk and two singles to score their first run of the night.

Raygo at 58 pitches.

Top 4: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 0

Senior right-hander Grant Camp takes over on the mound for Tamboli, who allowed three hits and two walks, along with four unearned runs, in two innings.

De Pere gets a two-out double but doesn't score a run in an inning for the first time tonight.

Bottom 3: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 0

Cardinals get men on first and second with one out to start the inning but don't score.

Raygo at 40 pitches.

Top 3: De Pere 4, Sun Prairie 0

De Pere scores three more in the bottom of the second, again using a Sun Prairie error to put up its second run. A single to center by Devin Weber was misplayed by the centerfielder as the ball got past him. It allowed Trenton Kriewaldt to score all the way from first.

Donaldson then added an RBI single that scored Weber from second. Donaldson stole second base after a pickoff attempt failed and scored on an RBI single from Mason Sequin.

All three runs came with two outs.

Tamboli at 46 pitches.

Bottom 2: De Pere 1, Sun Prairie 0

Raygo retires the side in order and needs just eight pitches to do it. Now at 24 through two innings.

Top 2: De Pere 1, Sun Prairie 0

Redbirds score a run without a hit or walk thanks to two errors by the Cardinals. Axel Donaldson started the inning at second after the right fielder couldn't make the catch (ruled an error despite him not getting a glove on it, although should have made the catch) and came around to score a couple batters later after a grounder to first by Easton Arendt was misplayed by the first baseman.

Tamboli finishes the inning with 14 pitches.

Bottom 1: De Pere 0, Sun Prairie 0

Raygo allows an infield single to short to start the game, then retires the next three. It included back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat with Sam Ostrenga at second.

Raygo is at 16 pitches.

Division 1 title game expected to start at 6:30 p.m.

De Pere and Sun Prairie East will close out the WIAA baseball season with the D1 championship game.

The Redbirds (26-3) will start Landon Raygo. The Cardinals (27-4) will start Joe Tamboli.

Good luck to both teams and their families.

FINAL: Edgewood wins Division 2 title over Mosinee, 12-6

Mosinee scored two runs with two out in the bottom of the seventh but Edgewood shut the door, securing in the Division 2 state championship, 12-6.

Next up is the Division 1 final between De Pere (26-3) and Sun Prairie (27-4).

Another run for Edgewood and it's Mosinee's last chance

The Crusaders got another run in the top of the seventh on Carson Jesberger's double to make it 12-4. We're headed to the bottom of the seventh.

Mosinee picks up a run in the fifth; Edgewood leads 11-4

Taylor Lemanski hit a one-out solo home run for Mosinee in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Edgewood breaks game open with seven-run fifth inning to make it 11-3

The Crusaders have taken command by scoring seven runs in the fifth inning on seven hits and two errors. Bennett Cagle hit a two-run double, Henry Bishop had a run-scoring double and Henry Gill, Seth Myers and Carson Jesberger had run-scoring singles. Another run scored on a wild pitch.

Edgewood takes a 4-3 lead over Mosinee with two-run fourth inning

After Jack Halloran hit a one-out single and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Bennett Cagle walked and Preston Yaucher singled to left field, scoring Halloran.

Cagle, who had moved to second on Yaucher's hit, got caught trying to steal third. After Seth Myers walked, Steffen Mello singled to center, scoring Yaucher and putting Edgewood in front, 4-3.

Edgewood baseball scores pair of runs in third inning

Edgewood is on the board in the third inning.

The Crusaders got two players in scoring position without even recording a hit. Bennett Cagle drew a walk to get things started. After the first out, Seth Myers was then hit by a pitch. Down by three runs, Edgewood showed it will be aggressive on the basepaths. Cagle and Myers recorded a double steal. Now with two outs after a strikeout, Henry Bishop walked to load the bases.

That brought up Davis Halbleig, whose single to left center scored both Myers and Cagle.

Walks can typically come back to haunt teams and in this case it did for Mosinee.

Mosinee's lead is 3-2 heading to the fourth inning.

Mosinee takes early lead in Division 2 state baseball game

Mosinee strikes first with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. It all happened in the first three batters.

First, Mosinee's Keegan Jirschele reached on an error and then scored from second on an RBI single by Taylor Lemanski.

Gavin Obremski then socked a two-run home run to right field. Just like that Mosinee had a 3-0 lead.

FINAL: Aquinas wins D3 title 6-4

After finishing as the runners up in 2023, Aquinas is the WIAA D3 state champion. KSJ got the tying run to the plate with one out, but despite chasing Blugolds starter Tanner Peterson on a pitch count with two outs, were unable to keep the game alive. It is the third program title for Aquinas baseball (2007, 2017).

Bot 6 - KSJ enters seventh chasing three runs

The Lancers got two aboard on singles by Zach Rizzo and pinch-hitter Patrick Davidson with one out in the top of the sixth, but were unable to get a run across. In the bottom of the inning, a leadoff Jonny Deets triple came around to score two batters later on a Kole Keppel RBI single off the glove of a leaping KSJ shortstop.

The score sits at 6-3 Aquinas with three outs for KSJ to push three across. The top of the order is due up.

Bot 5 - Solo blast by Peters doubles Aquinas lead

On a full count with two outs, Blugolds three-hole hitter Eddie Peters unloaded on a Dylan Love pitch for a solo home run to left center. Tanner Peterson followed with a double over the head of KSJ center fielder Eric Kenesie, but Love got out of the inning with no more damage two batters later. Aquinas leads 5-3 after five complete.

Top 5 - KSJ earns two back on three wild pitches

After KSJ got the first two aboard on a strikeout with a wild pitch and a walk, Dominic Rinaldi came around from second to score on a second wild pitch. Aquinas catcher Jacob Thornton and pitcher Tanner Peterson were a bit slow on the coverage of home to allow Rinaldi and trail runner Tim Falk to each take two bases. Three batters later, another wild pitch allowed Falk to score from third. For the inning, KSJ got two runs on a walk, an error and no hits. Aquinas holds a 4-3 lead entering the bottom of the fifth.

End 4 - Aquinas takes lead after pitching change

Aquinas jumped on new KSJ pitcher Dylan Love to the tune of four runs to take the Lead. The first came on an RBI base hit by Jacob Thornton, then Jonny Deets reached on a fielder's choice to get a second run across, and Kyle White doubled home two more to stretch the lead to 4-1. Three runs were charged to KSJ starter Tommy Santarelli, who was pulled with one out and the bases loaded.

Bot 4 - Pitcher's duel continues, but KSJ changes pitchers

With one out in the bottom of the fourth, KSJ holds their 1-0 lead. Aquinas' Peterson has 51 pitches through four complete. He has allowed just the one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out four. Santarelli ran into a little trouble with the bases loaded and one out for the Lancers, causing KSJ to go to the pen. Dylan Love is now in to pitch in the bottom of the fourth, inheriting the jam. Peter Visconti moves to catcher as part of the same switch.

Bot 2 - Hit and run miscue results in rally-killing double play for Aquinas

A leadoff single for Aquinas' Tanner Peterson looked to provide a promising start to the inning for the Blugolds, but the inning ended two batters later. A popout to short and an apparent hit-and-run attempt resulted in a double play to end the inning, as Jacob Thornton lined to KSJ second baseman Kole Janis. With Peterson caught between the bags, the Lancers got out of the inning while maintaining their 1-0 lead. Through two innings, Peterson has 29 pitches and Tommy Santarelli has 31.

Top 1 - KSJ turns leadoff triple into early lead

Eric Kenesie laced a triple to right center to lead off the game for the Lancers, as Peter Viconti drove him home on an RBI groundout up the middle to follow. Lancers were retired in order after the triple, giving KSJ a 1-0 lead entering the bottom of the first.
