So. Im currently playing tall, small empire, currently 3 planets, 6 habitats, breached the shroud already, just before unlocking 5th ascension perk in year 2288. Given that I need the Mega Engineering tech to get the Mega structure perks, what are the pre requisite techs for it? Can anybody tell me?

Battleships and Fortesses. Having master builders makes it more likely. Having any megastructure (FE ringworld etc) in your borders makes it vastly more likely.

It does have it's own effects, it increases your mineral storage by 20 thousand and increases building construction speed by 50%

It also requires zero point power btw (that's level 5 ship power modules).

You also need Zero Point energy, I think?

I have all the requirements needed im pretty sure but still in the year 2500bi cant get this mega engineering tech

I had all the requirements and an FE Ringworld in my borders, but it still took forever for the tech to show up for me. I assumed it was just bad RNG luck. I couldn't complain because the Cybrex projects in very short order around my home system and the Cybrex system spawned two jumps away, so...

Maybe those pre-req techs should be listed on the perk you're trying to get alongside the rare tech, although redundant at least then you'd have a rough idea of how to get there.

I sincerely hope this post implicates that the requirements for Mega-Engineering are bugged and weren't supposed to require Zero Point Reactors (because they do).
Because if Wiz decides to troll people by NOT mentioning the otherwise hidden tech prequesite...

I finally had it appear but then the ai nexto me with a solid 400k+ fleet declares war so if i survive i will get to enjoy these new megastructures

Ahh, I have done 23 engineering techs now after BB / Fortress techs and had curator also, but no luck yet. I presume missing tech_zero_point_power could be the reason then. I got enigmatic power from fortress so had skipped it. Luckily only 2335, so not too late.

I have been trying forever to get it. Sadly there were no FE Ringworlds in my last two Galaxy rolls. So voidcraft expertise scientist helps as well it seems.

Not having a voidcraft OR
CURATOR scientist cuts the chance to 0.25.
So it's less about 'helping' and more about being a soft requirement.

In addition to this, having a scientist with either Voidcraft or Curator trait assigned to engineering makes it four times as likely.
